Featurette: Time Refugees

My friend suggested to me, the other day, the concept of time refugees. He says that if, by some miracle, mankind is able to invent time machines in the future, people will come back here to vacation or even to move here. He said it could throw the planet off balance in many, many ways.
I said no. If mankind really made time machines, we'd all be dead by now because someone would be bound to screw it up.
If that wasn't the case then, I told him, we wouldn't even know if there were time refugees. They'd no doubt be really really good at blending in with us- having read their history books. They probably wouldn't come back to our modern time, actually. The 1950s is where I'd go.

Business Card v.2

Well, the other one was all fine and dandy but according to, like, three websites, grunge is the "in" thing for 2008 designs, and the other one didn't exactly embody that. I think this one does a better job as far as grunge is concerned- especially because I got to try out some new brushes.
Unlike the other one, this is 3x5in.

Hiking Pack: Cyanide pills, Respirator, .22 Cal Handgun (Seems small but it'll do its job + I can carry more ammo), Duct Tape, Camera, 3 Lighters with a quart of lighter fluid, Hunting Knife, Machete, Compound Bow with 10 arrows, Quart Size Water Bottle, Water Purification Tablets, Compass, Small Flashlight, Sleeping Bag, Sunglasses, Small First-Aid kit, Binoculars, Flares, Dynamite, Hatchet, trail bars
Clothing: Large UV protective hat, Loose Long Sleeved Shirt, Kevlar Vest, Jacket with removable interior, Gloves of some sort, Cargo Pants, Hiking Boots, Pocket Knife
Hard Decisions: Sniper Rifle (Preferably a T-76 Longbow) ---I would love to have one, but what if I end up in a time where guns are completely outlawed and to have one is death? It isn't exactly an easy weapon to get rid of. That happens to be another reason I chose the.22. So in the end I chose to leave it out.
Explanation: Easy enough, it is pretty simple, all of the items are pretty useful in any time period. The Cyanide pills are for the obvious reason that if I end up in a really bad time and have no way to get back...
.22 cal is reasonable, I want something quiet and accurate, that suits the bill. It will do enough damage to kill a person, especially if I have it as I am accurate.
Compound bow has nearly infinite ammo, I am accurate with it. It can pretty easily take out large game.
Sunglasses are just to look cool, though if it is a future where the world is much brighter because the sun has grown they will be useful.
Clothing is simple enough, the Kevlar vest is just for good measure, if I find I don't need it I can take it off and throw it aside.
Jacket with removable interior is because I have no idea what the climate will be like.
Well I can't think of anything else right now, I think that about covers it, also my bag would be pretty full.

Business Card

I've finished designing my ad/business card for this challenge. Tomorrow, since I have the day off, I'm going to go about posting these all over my town. It would be amazing if someone would do the same!
Additionally, I have alerted friends. Several people are compiling lists right now!

UPDATE: I've put five links in my local library. Hopefully people will take them.

Description: Well, I figured I'd kick it off with my list. Here's my example. It basically comes down to my normal clothes and basic survival gear. I tested it out- I can get all of those things except the sword in my backpack, but the sword I can wear on my waist or across my chest. As for the respirator and goggles, I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry- what if I ended up in a future akin to that of Nausicaa's in the Miyazaki movie? As for the revolver, it's the only sort of gun I've ever fired.

Good day, people of the Internet. My name is Alison, and I have a challenge for you all. Let's start with the premise of the challenge.

You are going on a time traveling trip. You do not know when or where you will end up, but you can assume that the weather will be reasonably survivable and you wont be in the middle of the ocean or anything.
You have been given two days to prepare yourself for the trip. Whenever and wherever you end up, you will be staying there for three weeks, at which point you would be sent back home to the point a few moments after you departed.
You can assume that, should you end up in the past, nothing you would do back then could harm the present.

The challenge is much more fun and interesting

Make a list of all the things you would take with you. You may only take things you could reasonably carry, so I suggest you make one of the things on your list a backpack!
Extra applause if you submit a picture with the list! Even more so if you get a photo of all the things you would bring.

The reward for every participant? I will:

Feature your list on the blog along with your message to other fake time travelers.
Picture or drawing/painting if you'd like
Give your name if you'd like
